Thetford Porta Potti 565E
Electric-flush portable toilet for camping, caravans and temporary accommodation
The Thetford Porta Potti 565E is a self-contained portable toilet with an electric push-button flush, a 15-litre fresh-water tank and a 21-litre waste holding tank. It requires no plumbing, no power connection and no permanent installation, making it one of the most practical portable sanitation solutions for camping, caravanning and off-grid use.
Our Verdict
The Porta Potti 565E uses a sealed two-tank design: a fresh-water tank on top powers the electric flush, and a separate waste holding tank below collects all waste. The electric flush — powered by two AA batteries — delivers a consistent, hygienic rinse with each use. A level indicator on the waste tank shows when it needs emptying, and the tank seals completely for odour-free transport to a dump point or toilet. Thetford's proprietary Aqua Kem chemical treatment breaks down waste, controls odour and lubricates the seals. The 565E is larger than entry-level portable toilets, offering a comfortable seat height and a generous waste tank capacity suited to extended trips. It requires no composting medium, no ventilation hose and no 12V connection — just fresh water, batteries and chemical treatment.
