Nature's Head Composting Toilet
The world's most popular composting toilet for off-grid living
Nature's Head is a widely used urine-diverting composting toilet for off-grid caravans, tiny homes and boats. Its urine-diverting design separates liquid and solid waste to control odour, uses no water and produces compost that can be disposed of in accordance with local regulations. Built in the USA with stainless steel hardware and a 5-year warranty.
Our Verdict
The Nature's Head separates liquid and solid waste, which is the key to odour-free composting. Liquids drain to a separate container that needs emptying every 2–3 days for two people, while solids compost in the main chamber with a coconut coir or peat moss medium. A small 12V fan (included) provides ventilation that eliminates odour completely. The main chamber typically needs emptying every 4–6 weeks for two people full-time. The stainless steel hardware and robust construction make it a genuine lifetime purchase.
